Best dictionary to find bogans and flannies
The term ‘bogan’ may have been added to the esteemed Oxford English Dictionary recently but it’s been in Australia’s Macquarie Dictionary for years.
Defined in our Macquarie as “a young person who dresses and behaves in an uncouth fashion” (sometimes spelled ‘bogon’), the word keeps great company with other ‘wicked’ colloquialisms such as ‘flannies’, cold ‘tinnies’ and ‘dag’.
The Macquarie Dictionary is generally a great reference tool to have on hand in the office for anyone looking for the right way to spell most Australian words and their regional variations (it’s also handy for all those confusing acronyms and abbreviations).
