Looking for a quality photo to kick off your next social media post? Need an eye-catching image for a special promotion or to update your website? Although there are plenty of sites where you can pay a pretty penny for the perfect photo (including high resolution versions), perhaps consider a free one first.

There are many reputable websites offering stock photos for commercial use, free from fees and royalties or the need for attributions (a photo credit). Simply look for the Creative Commons Zero licence status (CC0) that means the photographer has donated the work to the public domain with no limitations on its use at all.

Other great sites include Flickr  and Pixabay, with Negative Space quite handy for finding images where sections of the photo are left uncluttered to overlay text onto. Unsplash has a great selection of animal and nature photos, in high resolution too.
